WHO WE ARE who we are
The Dune Sea Garrison was formed on December 12th, 2001 and is the Arizona chapter of the international Star Wars costuming club known as the 501st Legion. The Dune Sea Garrison is responsible for all 501st Legion events in the State of Arizona and shares it’s workload with it’s squads. The 501st legion is comprised of over 15,000 members worldwide. While not sponsored by Lucasfilm LLC, the 501st Legion is Lucasfilm’s preferred Imperial costuming group.
The 190+ Members of the Dune Sea Garrison strive to create movie-quality and screen-accurate costumes of the “bad guys” from the Star Wars universe. From Stormtroopers to Boba Fett, from Jawas to Darth Vader, we strive for quality and accuracy in every costume we create.

WHAT WE DO what we do
Members of the Dune Sea Garrison (and the 501st Legion) put their costumes to good use, taking part in charity events like the MS Walk and many visits a year to children’s hospitals throughout the state. If you’d like us to take part in your charity or promotional event, please use our Event Request Form.
SQUADS squads
Squads are smaller sub-units that operate within the Garrison to bring focus to their geographical areas.
In July 2008, the Jundland Waste Squad was formed by members living in Pima, Cochise, Santa Cruz and Graham Counties in the State of Arizona. Our Troopers stationed in this portion of the Dune Sea Garrison are ready, willing, and able to “troop” at your next event.
In September 2025, the Beggar’s Canyon Squad was formed by members living in Northern Arizona. These troopers in the Beggar’s Canyon Squad focus on events in the northern counties of Mohave, Yavapai, Coconino, and the upper portion of Gila County.
